Today we went for a short jaunt over to Apiro, just 15 minutes from Coldigioco. This is the same town where we saw TerraNostra (Our Land), the international dance festival last week. Apiro has a gorgeous walled old town as well as a nice gelato place and the nearest market for buying groceries.
A shaded walkway next to the road just outside the old walled part of town.
Robbie, Colin, and I approach the main gate to the walled town.
All of the streets are incredibly narrow in these old towns, villages, and cities and within Apiro itself there is maybe only one street that cars can actually drive on. I think mostly only delivery trucks are allowed to actually enter the city.
Here is the stage of the dance festival and the bell tower of city hall, which can be seen for many kilometers around the city.
An even narrower street than most.
Here is the reservoir we went swimming in later in the afternoon. Wonderful weather and wonderful water. We didn't realize, however, that we needed to pay to use the beach chairs so after about 30 minutes a lady came over and demanded money for each chair and umbrella we were sitting. Granted, they were probably the nicest beach chairs I've ever seen.
One of my favorite new groups of last summer and this whole year, Hiatus Kaiyote, also re-released their debut album, Tawk Tomahawk. This version of the album included Q-tip, from A Tribe Called Quest, on a short verse on Nakamarra. So excellent.
