While I waited for my flight out of Rome to Dublin, I checked out the Forum, which was only a 15 minute walk south from the Roma Termini train station.
It was amazing to see the layers of human history that are piled up in Rome and to picture the beauty the city must have had when all of these columned piazzas and buildings were newly constructed.
It was incredible to see the Colosseum even partially covered by scaffolding. It is just such an iconic building that I've seen a hundred times before in pictures and then to see it in real life was stunning.
